SKETCHING THE LOBBY

INOVERTED has a different angle .After a 12 year long career in mainstream print media in the Netherland, EU, UK and USA, Leon who initiated inoverted.space came to the conclusion the media world and image making was shifting in illustration, photography and thet transition to apps and corporate online titles.. With trade magazines dissapearing and human interest as well as traditional press titles going online, the digital illustration had become a routine to make and a market oversaturated by stock and the foreign supplier. Bringing the news can be a choice between the budgets of the mainstream press or the infinite channels and content our screens and spoken voice walls have to offer.

A CLEAR CHOICE: HAND MADE AND 2D

After his studies in Academy of Arts in Breda the Netherlands, specializing in fashion illustratiion, being street wise and able to come up with new ideas as one of the feats my teacher told me. Being autonomous in the assigment or briefing and making one for myself gave me the confidence to try an art shop with ajutonomous work. It is all about the process, never the final product. Being educated in the early zeros also meant that using digital techniques and vector illustration was a reality that made us reluctant to work with techniques of materials. After a decade of working as a sole proprietor drawing a straight line had become a dread that was a confronting experiment.

WHAT IS AT STAKE

I decided to start with a blavk Bic ballpoint and draw street images in Amsterdam and small portraits on sketch paper. This resulted in several series that have a link with alernative realities, current affairs, gay themed work and the subjects I felt related to, spirituuality, innovation, technological advancement and the metaphysics of time and space and the results of the globalised world and my position in all this..
