S' agapo, der die das war and angels are lost for the better

Life is too long to be really bored for too long. Looking at old photo's of better times, this one of ex Nondas Georgitsopoulos was taken at the First Greek Olympic Games site in Olympia, Peloponnesus. We visited a concert there and for three nights in a row we did it in the arena under the stars as well. Nondas was as pure and authentic as it gets and his persona was larger than his stature. He was lazy too in the most comfortable way and I fell for his sheepish looks immediately when we met in Amsterdam one weekend in 2012, but most of all for his simplicity and shyness as we talked and laughed and became soul mates for years.

On the night we met in Amsterdam, we had just returned from a Madonna concert in the golden circle In Paris, Bercy for the fourth time and spent his entire credit card debt for it. He longed for intense experiences but had a calmness and peace surrounding him that I admired. He was masculine and quiet in a true meditteranean way and talked and fought with his mother on the phone daily. We followed quiet soccer match nights too and he taught me much about the game. Often we watched YouTube movies together. Nondas admired North European cities and landscapes for their neat and well-designed and structured modern look and he loved skyscrapers most of all, he was impressed by Rotterdam, and in awe when driving on the grand flat eight lane road near Schiphol at high speed, while I myself was impacted in seeing the unspoilt character of Greece and it's unspoilt beauty. Gazi was the place to be at the time in Athens and I was impressed by how sophisticated Greek youth is. When he proudly showed me The Village, where we drove to see James Bond Skyfall, I thought it was awful there and hoped the mall trend would not pursue. Public theatres, concert halls and many free and especially the many dedicated small theatre spots for impromptu plays inspired me. Plakat, Turkish delight, meow meow too, all the ingredients for a romance I should have been more faithful to.

His love for idols of classic and popular music was strong and much of our time together idols including Madonna, Anna Vissi, Nana Mouskouri, Charis Alexiou and Mikos Theodorakis played in the background while we talked about all the bigger and smaller things that moved us with the political situation during the drama of the crisis in the background. Nondas Georgitsopoulos enjoyed nothing more than looking at the stars and was certain he had seen extraterrestrial activities in the darkest clear views of the landscape of the village he grew up. We were both positive and spent much time in his apartment in Athens, Ilias on the outskirts of the city, but travelled around Greece as well. When we saw Madonna perform her MDNA tour at at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam in July 2012 both our credit card debts did not allow first row tickets and we saw the show from the very last rank all the way in the back, but we had a great time nonetheless. The next day we drove to Rupit in Spain in a rented car to spend a week or two there before we had to return to the Netherlands.

Greeks are the warmest people, they hug and laugh and cry at every opportunity, or, as the old lady living one floor below, screamed that Angela Merkel was Hitler when she rang on his doorbell in distress. The economy and international relations were in turmoil at the time. We watched the movie Strella and Zorba too, Balki Bartakomous and the reality series of Anna Vissi, whom he had been following for decades and spent time with in photography backstage sessions. Nontas was educated as a photographer and made short film clips on a blog called underbluelight with dedication and deleted it all with one press on the button later also. Some of you may remember reading 'das' being an 'over my shoulder' subject in articles and Twitter timelines. Nicht fester noch nicht wahr? Rest in peace.

Bewlow is a video by Anna Vissi. It is now one of my all time favourites. I never paid much attention to her music while we were together but he was a big fan and had visited her dozens and dozens of nights when she performed. Den Thelo Na Xereis means: 'I do not want you know,' allegedly.

P.s. I am not sure if Nondas is dead.
